Electrical safety at home
OPTION 1: HEALTH CHECK
If you sometimes feel like your house is a bit of an accident waiting to happen, or even if you just want some peace of mind that everything is in pretty good order then you can get us to give your property a health check.
This is our entry level testing service that gives your property a thorough once over and lets you know what condition your property is in. We've carefully selected the most common and the most serious problems that we find on full tests (electrical installation condition reports) and made a check list of things that should be looked at. For example, do you know that your bonding is up to scratch? Its often much better to find these problems sooner rather than later and that's just one of the things that'll get checked. We'll come and take a look at your supply, your fuse board, and some other important things that you may or may not be aware of.
Once we've taken a good look around you'll get a small and easily digestible feedback report from us to say the sort of condition your property is in. Chances are it'll have a few minor problems but nothing to sweat about. On the off chance that something is very wrong, you'll be glad you called us in to rectify the problem sooner rather than later.
OPTION 2: ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORT (EICR)
This is a legal document which caters for people who require a full test as a prerequisite for selling, buying or renting a property. The test takes a little longer and details information that wouldn't make a great deal of sense to the average home owner, but it all comes down to the defects that are found on the property and whether that give a "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory" condition.
A normal house only requires one of these every 10 years so check your records to see when your house was last tested to give you an idea of when it should be tested again.
Its usually beneficial to get one of these reports completed before buying/selling too.
If you're a landlord/lady then your property benefits from more regular checks. The frequency of testing is every 5 years OR every change of occupancy. This is because wear and tear is much higher is a rented property and within a 5 year period the occupants could change multiple times. Would recommend to anyone and definitely contact again with anything else. Checked and confirmed electrics after recently moving to an older style house. Honest, reliable and very fair on price. Thank you.
